About Mission: Comics & Art

Mission: Comics & Art is a comic book shop and art gallery on Mission Street in San Francisco's Mission District, set up as a meeting point between comics, pop culture and fine art.

Owner Leef Smith grew up in San Francisco reading Tintin, then X-Men and Crisis on Infinite Earths. After a career that included years as a webmaster, a layoff in the fall of 2008 pushed him to open a gallery combined with a comic shop, inspired in part by ideas of local, sustainable business.

The shop is open seven days a week: noon to 7pm Wednesday through Saturday and noon to 6pm Sunday through Tuesday. Events are posted on its Facebook page.
