US conventions at a glance

139 conventions on this list (64 anime, 50 multi-genre, 18 comics, 7 gaming), held in 43 states and 102 cities. The most are in California (9), Ohio (8), Texas (7).

Coming up next: Youmacon (Oct 29–Nov 1, 2026); Con-Nichiwa (Oct 30–Nov 1, 2026); DerpyCon (Oct 30–Nov 1, 2026); Kansas Comic Con (Oct 31–Nov 1, 2026).

The longest-running on the list is Gen Con, first held in 1968.

96 of them run a masquerade or cosplay contest, among them Youmacon and DerpyCon.

Dates, venues and prop rules come from each convention's official site and change every year — check the convention page before you book. If you went, rate the organisation, lines, guests and how cosplay-friendly it felt.

Planning a convention trip

Dates, venues and ticket prices change every year, so each convention page shows the next announced edition and links the official site. Big conventions sell badges months ahead and hotel blocks open early.

If you bring a prop, read the convention’s weapon and prop policy: many US cons check props at the door and ban realistic replica firearms.

How conventions are rated

Attendees score organisation, lines and crowds, guests and panels, and how cosplay-friendly the convention felt, and say which year they went.

Bringing a prop?

Every convention page links its official prop and weapon policy. Read how convention prop checks work before you pack.
