About Fan Expo Portland
Fan Expo Portland is a three-day pop-culture convention run by Fan Expo HQ. The 2027 edition is set for January 29–31 at the Oregon Convention Center, and the organizer lists attendance at more than 30,000 fans.
Guests span celebrities, voice actors, comic creators and cosplayers, with workshops and panels across the weekend. Instead of a judged contest, cosplayers can apply to the Cosplay Showcase, where selected outfits and props are displayed during the show.
Under the Fan Expo HQ props policy, actual weapons are banned and metal prop weapons are generally not allowed. Security may direct props to the Prop Check Desk for inspection and a visible tag, and an accessibility page explains the services desk and medical stickers.
