About Southern California Comics

Southern California Comics grew out of its owners' retailing at San Diego Comic-Con and went full time as a back-issue store in 1998. It chose a warehouse space on Clairemont Mesa Boulevard for the floor area, and free parking is available in the lot outside.

The showroom holds thousands of back issues from the 1930s to today, with Golden and Silver Age keys as a specialty, alongside Bronze Age and modern books, toys, statues and posters. Jamie Newbold, who spent twenty years with the San Diego Police Department, has written a book on avoiding scams in comics collecting.

The shop buys comics, graphic novels, toys and memorabilia year round. Appraisals, including for insurance or legal purposes, are by appointment.
