About Anime Festival Wichita
Anime Festival Wichita (AFW) has run since 2005 and is held at the Hyatt Regency Wichita, a downtown hotel on the Arkansas River. Its most recent edition took place June 19–21, 2026; dates for the next festival had not been posted when this listing was checked.
Cosplay is a big part of the weekend. AFW runs a Craftsmanship Cosplay Contest, a Cosplay Skit and Dance Contest, a Cosplay Showcase and an Iron Cosplay Competition in which teams of four build a costume from supplied materials in 45 minutes.
Real firearms and metal weaponry are not allowed, and realistic-looking prop firearms must show government safety orange. State law and hotel rules take precedence over the convention's own cosplay rules.
