About Tora-Con
Tora-Con began in 2004 as a small cosplay contest and has grown into a two-day convention celebrating anime, cosplay and nerd culture in Rochester, New York. It is a nonprofit event run entirely by student volunteers from the RIT Anime Club on the Rochester Institute of Technology campus, with badge pickup in the Gordon Field House. The next edition is March 20–21, 2027.
The costume rules are among the strictest around: no exposed hard materials such as wood, plastic or metal unless covered in foam or similar padding, no sharp edges or points, and loose chains no longer than a foot. Props cleared at the Cosplay Prop Check Table must still be put away after 9 p.m. on Saturday. The annual Cosplay Contest has its own rules on top of these.
