About Sana Takeda
Sana Takeda is a Japanese illustrator and comic book artist known for her work on Monstress, the Hugo Award-winning series written by Marjorie Liu.
She started out as a 3D CGI designer for Sega, then became a freelance artist. After sending her portfolio to C. B. Cebulski, she worked on Marvel projects including X-Men, Venom, Civil War II and Ms. Marvel. From 2006 to 2008 she and Cebulski made the creator-owned series Drain.
She began working with Liu on X-23 at Marvel in 2010. In 2013 the two started developing Monstress, which Image Comics has published since 2015. She also drew The Night Eaters for Abrams (2022–2025). She has named Kuniyoshi Utagawa's ukiyo-e prints and Shigeru Mizuki's yōkai art among her influences.
