About Atlantis Fantasyworld
Atlantis Fantasyworld has served Santa Cruz since 1976. Its original store was used as the Frog Brothers' family comic shop in the 1987 film The Lost Boys; that building was destroyed in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake, and the shop has moved twice since. It now sells Lost Boys merchandise, and it won the Will Eisner Spirit of Comics Retailer Award in 1996.
Customers earn Atlantis Dollars, $1 for every $10 spent, which work as a dollar off store items and are worth more on Mondays and sale days.
The shop buys single-issue comics by appointment, with Thursday and Friday preferred. Graphic novels are taken for store credit only, at up to 25% of the purchase price depending on condition.
