Coffee and a Comic

Coffee and a Comic is a comic shop on Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach that has traded since 2019. Its founder, Jeff, started it after finding comfort in a daily coffee and a comic while his mother was ill with lung cancer; she died in May 2022, and the shop frames itself around that ritual.

It sells weekly new releases and back issues, and says it supports independent creators and publishers.

The pull box system was rebuilt around the shop's own monthly catalog after problems with its previous setup. Customers pick titles from the catalog and submit requests by the 20th of each month using their customer code; the books are then set aside when they arrive from distributors.
