About Kawaii Kon
Kawaii Kon is a three-day anime and Japanese pop culture convention in Honolulu, held since 2005 at the Hawai‘i Convention Center on Kalakaua Avenue. It is run by Its Complicated, LLC. The next edition is set for Memorial Day weekend 2027; exact dates had not been posted.
At-door prices are $110 for a multi-day membership, $50 for Friday and $85 for Saturday or Sunday, with online registration also offered.
The venue uses metal detectors, and metal props such as swords, knives and kunai are banned. Every prop must pass the Public Safety inspection desk and carry a visible peace bond. The Cosplay Competition awards trophies and cash prizes by skill level, and the convention plans quiet areas for attendees who need a low-sensory space.
