About Metrocon
Metrocon is a Tampa anime convention that grew out of the AnimeMetro.com online community. It was first held in 2003 at a Crowne Plaza hotel and moved to the Tampa Convention Center in 2005. It is run by Team Dynamite Productions LLC.
The 2026 edition took place July 31–August 2. Programming includes The Masquerade and other cosplay contests.
Every prop is inspected and registered on arrival. Real guns are banned even if disabled, bladed props cannot have sharp edges or points, and toy or airsoft guns need an orange tip, a zip-tied trigger and no charge. Realistic prop weapons should not be carried outside the venue. A free Accessibility Pass gives access to line accommodations, early seating and a quiet room.
