About Hellboy
Hellboy is a comic created by Mike Mignola and published by Dark Horse Comics. Its title character is a well-meaning half-demon who works for the B.P.R.D. and, in early stories, is billed as the World's Greatest Paranormal Investigator, fighting Nazis, witches and other dark forces in tales rooted in folklore and Lovecraftian horror.
Hellboy first appeared in San Diego Comic-Con Comics #2 in August 1993, and his first full story, the four-part Seed of Destruction, came out in 1994. Dark Horse still publishes new Hellboy comics.
Live-action films followed in 2004 and 2008, with a reboot in 2019 and Hellboy: The Crooked Man in 2024. Two straight-to-video animated films were also made.
