About Dark Horse Comics

Dark Horse Comics is an American publisher of comics, graphic novels and art books. Mike Richardson founded it in Milwaukie, Oregon, in 1986 with money from his Portland comic shop chain, Pegasus Books. Its catalog includes Hellboy, Sin City, 300 and many licensed series such as Star Wars and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The Dark Horse Manga imprint has published translated manga since 1994, starting with Oh My Goddess! Other labels include Berger Books, Secret Stash Press and Millarworld, and Dark Horse Direct sells collectible statues.

Embracer Group completed its purchase of parent company Dark Horse Media in March 2022.
