About Berserk
Berserk is set in a dark fantasy world inspired by medieval Europe. It follows the swordsman Guts and his quest for revenge on Griffith, leader of the mercenary Band of the Hawk, who betrayed him and their comrades.
Kentaro Miura began the series in 1989 in Hakusensha's Monthly Animal House, which became Young Animal. After Miura died in May 2021, the series resumed in June 2022 under his friend Kouji Mori and Miura's assistants at Studio Gaga. It has 43 volumes as of August 2025, and Dark Horse Comics publishes it in English, including a hardcover deluxe edition.
Anime versions include TV series in 1997 and 2016 and the Golden Age Arc films.
