About Black Butler
Black Butler follows Ciel Phantomhive, the 12-year-old Earl of Phantomhive and the Queen's Watchdog, who solves crimes in the underworld of Victorian London. He has made a contract with the demon Sebastian Michaelis, who poses as his butler and helps him seek revenge, in exchange for Ciel's soul.
Yana Toboso has serialized it in Square Enix's Monthly GFantasy since September 2006, with 36 volumes as of 2026. In June 2024 a hiatus was announced while Toboso prepares the story's climax. Yen Press publishes it in English.
A-1 Pictures' anime began in 2008; later series include Book of Circus (2014).
