About Square Enix

Square Enix is a Japanese holding company and video game publisher, best known for Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts. It formed in April 2003 when Square merged with Enix, and its head office is at Shinjuku Eastside Square in Tokyo.

Its manga business, inherited from Enix, runs under the Gangan Comics brand. Titles include Fullmetal Alchemist and Soul Eater, plus comic adaptations of games like Dragon Quest and Star Ocean. Fullmetal Alchemist, its best-selling manga, is licensed in North America by Viz Media.

Since late 2019 the company has also released some of its manga in English itself.
