About Shogakukan
Shogakukan is a Japanese publisher of comics, magazines, light novels, dictionaries and other books. Founded in 1922 by Takeo Ōga, it is headquartered in the Shogakukan Building in the Hitotsubashi area of Chiyoda, Tokyo, close to the Jimbocho book district.
Shogakukan set up Shueisha, which in turn set up Hakusensha; the three companies make up the Hitotsubashi Group. Its Tentōmushi Comics imprint collects series from CoroCoro Comic, and Gagaga Bunko is one of its light novel labels.
With Shueisha, it owns Viz Media, the main route for its manga into English.
