About Monster

Monster follows Kenzo Tenma, a Japanese neurosurgeon in Düsseldorf whose life falls apart after he crosses paths again with Johan Liebert, a former patient who turns out to be a manipulative serial killer.

Naoki Urasawa wrote and drew it for Shogakukan's seinen magazine Big Comic Original from December 1994 to December 2001. It is complete in 18 volumes. Viz Media publishes the English edition. Urasawa later wrote the companion novel Another Monster (2002).

Madhouse adapted it as a 74-episode anime that aired on Nippon TV from April 2004 to September 2005, and Viz Media also licensed the anime.
