About The Apothecary Diaries
The Apothecary Diaries is set in a country inspired by Tang-dynasty China. Maomao, trained in medicine by her apothecary father, is sold as a servant to the emperor's palace and quietly uses her skills to solve mysteries.
The story began as Hyūganatsu's web novel and light novel series. This manga adaptation by Itsuki Nanao, illustrated by Nekokurage, has run in Square Enix's Monthly Big Gangan since May 2017, with 17 volumes as of 2026. Square Enix publishes it in English. A second manga version, drawn by Minoji Kurata, runs in Shogakukan's Monthly Sunday Gene-X.
The anime TV series began in 2023.
