About Rurouni Kenshin

Rurouni Kenshin opens in 1878, early in Japan's Meiji era. A former Bakumatsu assassin known as Hitokiri Battosai now lives as Himura Kenshin, a wandering swordsman who protects people while keeping a vow never to kill again.

Nobuhiro Watsuki serialized it in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from April 1994 to September 1999. It is collected in 28 volumes, with later 22-volume kanzenban and 14-volume bunkoban editions. Viz Media publishes it in English.

The first anime ran from 1996 to 1998, and a second TV series by Liden Films premiered in July 2023.
