About Anime Matsuri
Anime Matsuri is a Houston anime and Japanese pop culture convention held at the George R. Brown Convention Center. The 2026 edition, billed as its 20th anniversary, ran July 23–26.
For 2026 a weekend badge cost $95, the VIP-style Superpass $320, and single-day passes $45 to $70; children 6–12 paid $30 and those under 6 entered free. Cosplayers can enter the Main Cosplay Contest or the lighter Hallway Cosplay Contest.
The prop rules are strict: no metal weapons anywhere on convention center grounds, functional projectile weapons are banned, and props should be made of wood, PVC, foam, plastic or cardboard. Replica pistols stay holstered and rifles slung, and paddles are not allowed.
