About San Japan
San Japan is South Texas's anime and gaming convention, held over Labor Day weekend at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center and the Grand Hyatt in downtown San Antonio. San Japan, LLC runs it, and the 2027 edition is September 3–5.
For 2026, three-day passes moved from $72.50 in the first pre-registration tier to $95 online in the final weeks; child passes for ages 6–12 were $30 with an adult purchase.
The prop rules are strict: no live steel and no metal blades of any type, even dull or covered, and anyone walking the convention with a metal sword or knife will be ejected. Cosplayers can enter the Cosplay Show or the Hall Cosplay Contest, and the weekend includes a Night Market and a ticketed maid cafe.
