About Chimera Costumes
Chimera Costumes is a costume studio based in Florida and Michigan that has operated professionally since 2007. It is run by Heidi, a seamstress, corset-maker and competition cosplayer, and takes a limited number of commissions for cosplay replicas, original fantasy designs, historical reproductions, formal wear and alterations.
Work is billed at a base rate of $65 an hour plus materials and shipping; the site gives ranges such as 15 to 25 hours for a simple cosplay and 50 to 80-plus hours for an armored full costume. A 50% deposit secures a place in the queue, with the balance due before shipping.
Most costumes take 4 to 16 weeks from deposit, and the waiting list often runs several months. Rush work carries a 50% surcharge. Corsets require in-person fittings; other garments can be made remotely from a detailed measurement set.
