Other Books

Other Books is a bookshop and collaborative space on East Cesar E. Chavez Avenue in Boyle Heights. It carries new and used books, comics and zines rather than mainstream superhero releases.

The selection puts weight on literature in translation, creators of color in literature and art, alternative comics, international comics and art books, and independent presses, with a section on the history of people of color. Recent arrivals posted by the shop include books from small comics publishers such as Breakdown Press.

Opening hours are limited: the shop lists 2pm to 7pm on Wednesday and from Friday through Sunday, so it is worth checking before a trip. Updates about events and activities go out through its email list.
