About Secret Headquarters
Secret Headquarters opened in August 2005 on Sunset Boulevard in Sunset Junction, on the night of the neighborhood street fair. In June 2023 the shop moved to Glendale Boulevard in Atwater Village, where it still trades alongside a webstore.
The stock leans toward zines, graphic novels, single issues and art books, plus apparel and small gift items. The shop also runs SHQ Publishing, which puts out books and zines by artists from around the world.
Regular readers can set up a pull list by calling the store and collect their series whenever they visit. Secret Headquarters also buys comics: staff will look at any collection, though an offer is not guaranteed, and books have to be seen in person because nothing is valued over the phone.
