About Ai Yazawa

Ai Yazawa is a Japanese manga artist and illustrator. She debuted in Ribon in 1985 with the short story Ano Natsu, on her tenth submission to the magazine, and gained wide popularity in the 1990s and 2000s.

Her best-known series are I'm No Angel (1991), Neighborhood Story (1995), Paradise Kiss (1999) and Nana (2000). Nana ran in Shueisha's Cookie from May 2000 until it went on hiatus in May 2009. It is collected in 21 volumes, and Viz Media publishes it in North America.

Nana, one of the best-selling manga series, won the Shogakukan Manga Award in 2003. Since 2009 Yazawa has concentrated on illustration projects.
