About Garth Ennis

Garth Ennis is a Northern Irish comics writer. He is best known for his run on Vertigo's Hellblazer, Preacher (co-created at Vertigo with artist Steve Dillon), a nine-year run on Marvel's Punisher, and The Boys with artist Darick Robertson.

He began writing comics in 1989 with Troubled Souls in the British anthology Crisis, illustrated by John McCrea, who later drew Hitman with him. His first Marvel work was Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe in 1995. He has also worked with Glenn Fabry, Marc Silvestri and Carlos Ezquerra.

The Boys ran for 72 issues before ending in 2012, and Ennis has written other creator-owned and commissioned work for Dynamite Entertainment. He won the Eisner Award for Best Writer in 1998.
