About Usagi Yojimbo
Usagi Yojimbo is a historical action and fantasy comic written and drawn by Stan Sakai. Its hero is Miyamoto Usagi, a rabbit ronin, in a version of early Edo-period Japan where anthropomorphic animals take the place of humans.
The character debuted in November 1984, and his own series began in 1987. The comic has moved between Fantagraphics, Mirage, Dark Horse and IDW, returning to Dark Horse in September 2023. The numbered collections reached Book 41, Ten Thousand Plums, in 2025.
The series has won ten Eisner Awards, including Best Continuing Series in 2021. Netflix released the animated spin-off Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles in 2022.
