About Hirohiko Araki
Hirohiko Araki is the professional name of the Japanese manga artist behind JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The series began in Weekly Shōnen Jump in 1987 and later moved to Ultra Jump. It had more than 120 million copies in circulation as of 2022, and Viz Media publishes it in English.
Araki debuted in 1980 with the western one-shot Poker Under Arms, a Selected Work at that year's Tezuka Award. His first serialization was Cool Shock B.T. in 1983, followed by Baoh in 1984 and The Gorgeous Irene in 1985.
JoJo follows successive generations of the Joestar family, and its third arc introduced Stands, the powers that have defined the series since. Araki acts as an overseer on the TV anime adaptations. An anime of the seventh part, Steel Ball Run, was announced in April 2025.
