About Bone

Bone is a comedy and fantasy epic written and drawn by Jeff Smith. It follows three cousins, everyman Fone Bone, scheming Phoney Bone and simple Smiley Bone, after Phoney's failed run for mayor gets them driven out of their hometown of Boneville.

Smith self-published the comic through his company Cartoon Books, apart from a short stint at Image Comics, and it ran for 55 issues from July 1991 to June 2004. Scholastic's Graphix imprint reissued all nine volumes in full color between 2005 and 2009.

Several screen versions have been attempted, including a Warner Bros. animated film and a Netflix series canceled in 2022, but none has been released. Telltale Games put out two episodes of a Bone adventure game in 2005 and 2006.
