About Batman: Year One

Batman: Year One is a four-part story written by Frank Miller and drawn by David Mazzucchelli, with colors by Richmond Lewis. It recounts Batman's first year as a crime-fighter alongside the story of Jim Gordon, a recently transferred Gotham police detective. Both men arrive in a corrupt, violent city, and Gordon sets out to purge corruption from the police department.

It ran in Batman #404–407, cover-dated February to May 1987, and DC Comics collected it in hardcover and trade paperback in 1988.

In 2011 it became a DC Universe Animated Original Movie co-directed by Lauren Montgomery and Sam Liu, with Benjamin McKenzie as Batman and Bryan Cranston as Gordon.
