About Naoko Takeuchi

Naoko Takeuchi is a Japanese manga artist best known as the author of Sailor Moon, one of the most popular manga series of all time, and its predecessor Codename: Sailor V.

She entered the industry in 1986, when her story Love Call won Nakayoshi's New Artist award and appeared in the September 1986 issue of Nakayoshi Deluxe. She had already won the Nakayoshi Comic Prize for Newcomers in 1985 for Yume ja Nai no Ne.

Sailor Moon won the 17th Kodansha Manga Award for shōjo manga in 1993. After Kodansha's rights to Sailor Moon expired, she returned to the publisher in 1999 to develop the Materials Collection. The reboot anime Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal debuted in July 2014.
