Descender

Descender is a science fiction space opera written by Jeff Lemire and illustrated by Dustin Nguyen. Ten years after planet-sized robots appeared out of nowhere, it follows a young android, TIM-21, as he tries to survive endless bounty hunters.

Image Comics published it from March 2015 to July 2018 across 32 issues, collected in six trade paperbacks. The sequel Ascender, set ten years later on a world where magic has almost replaced machines, ran 18 issues from 2019 to 2021 and fills four more.

Sony Pictures acquired the film rights in January 2015, and in June 2020 Lark Productions, part of NBCUniversal, picked up the television rights.
