About Fables
Fables is a contemporary fantasy series written by Bill Willingham, with Mark Buckingham as its principal penciller. Characters from fairy tales and folklore have formed a hidden community in New York City called Fabletown after their Homelands were conquered by an enemy known as the Adversary.
DC Comics published it under Vertigo from July 2002 until issue #150 in July 2015. A 12-issue revival under DC Black Label began in 2022, bringing the total to 162 issues. The series is collected in 22 trade paperbacks plus deluxe and compendium editions.
It won 14 Eisner Awards, starting with Best New Series in 2003. Telltale Games released the prequel game The Wolf Among Us in 2013.
